Our History

Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan is an autonomous body under the Department of School Education, Government of Assam and is registered under the relevant provision of Societies Registration Act, 1860, which administers Adarsha Vidyalayas, Assam. In order to provide qualitative and national standard of schooling at Elementary, Secondary & Higher Secondary Level for children in the age group of 6 (six) to 18 (eighteen) years specially in rural and remote areas of Assam and to give scope to rural talents who are unable to afford English medium education. Adarsha Vidyalayas are being established and operationalized as CBSE affiliated English medium schools. At present there are 56 (fifty-six) nos. of Adarsha Vidyalayas in Assam scattered over 45 (forty-five) Legislative Assembly Constituencies.

Mission

• a) To establish, endow, maintain, control & manage the Adarsha Vidyalayas and act in a way that is conducive for the betterment of such Vidyalayas.
• b) To provide good quality and affordable modern education, including a strong component of inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, physical education, etc., to the talented children predominantly from the rural areas without regard to their family’s socio-economic condition.
• c) To serve as a Focal Point for improvement in the quality of school education through training/capacity building of Principal/Teaching & Non-Teaching staff.
• d) To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of school education.

Vision

Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, Assam believes in imparting knowledge/ values and nurturing talent, enthusiasm and creativity of students for seeking excellence through high quality education endeavour.

Under the Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan,

• • The Apex Body shall be the Governing-Body with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam as Chairman.
• • The Executive Committee shall manage all affairs of the Sangathan and shall be headed by a Chairman who will be an academician of eminence to be nominated by Chairman of the Governing Body.
• • The Managing Director, Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan shall be the Member-Secretary of the Governing Body as well as the Executive Committee.
