Implementation of programme on ‘Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing for students of Adarsha Vidyalayas of Assam’

• NEP, 2020 states that “Children are unable to learn optimally when they are undernourished or unwell. Hence, the nutrition and health (including mental health) need to be addressed through healthy meals and the introduction of well-trained social workers, counsellors, and community involvement into the schooling system.”

VISION OF MENTAL HEALTH IN ADARSHA VIDYALAYAS

• A mental health system in the school to build a full continuum of mental health service and supports for children in Adarsha Vidyalayas. By engaging the services of mental health providers, the Adarsha Vidyalayas Sangathan seeks to provide effective prevention, early intervention, diagnostic and treatment services to the students.

The Goals are to -

• prevent the development of emotional and behavioural problems,
• promote social, emotional and behavioural development, and
• earlier identification and intervention when problems do arise.
• to decrease barriers to learning and increase overall success for students and schools.
